Cheryl McDonald is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. A lifelong learner with a deep commitment to compassionate care, Cheryl’s journey into healthcare began as a teenager and has evolved across multiple specialties—including intensive care, home health, palliative care, and adult primary care—before finding her true calling in mental health.
Cheryl’s diverse background enhances her holistic approach to care. In addition to her nursing credentials, she has been a Certified Yoga Teacher for over two decades, creating specialized programs for cardiac rehabilitation and trauma survivors. She brings this integrative mindset to her work with clients, recognizing the profound connection between mind, body, and emotional well-being.
Cheryl graduated with honors throughout her academic career, earning a BSN from the University of Illinois, an MSN from the University of Alabama, a Post-Master’s Certificate from the University of Cincinnati, and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the University of South Florida.
Outside of her clinical work, Cheryl is an advocate for both human and animal welfare. She supports a local domestic violence shelter that includes accommodations for pets and is currently collaborating with equine therapists. Cheryl has a special interest in grief and loss and is in the process of writing a book to help both the public and future nurses navigate this universal experience.
