Dr. Lauren Henderson is a Board-Certified physician who brings compassion, empathy, and a holistic perspective to her work in mental healthcare. Growing up in Dayton, Ohio, Lauren developed an early appreciation for science, research, and spirituality, interests that would eventually shape her approach to caring for others. Her desire to pursue medicine was also deeply influenced by her family and the experiences that demonstrated the profound impact compassionate healthcare can have on individuals and their loved ones.

Lauren's grandmother dreamed of becoming a physician but was unable to pursue that opportunity because of racial barriers. Her grandmother's experience left a lasting impression on Lauren and inspired her to embrace the opportunities available to her while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Another defining influence was her aunt's experience with cancer. Witnessing the compassionate care her aunt received from a medical team that addressed her physical, emotional, and spiritual needs helped Lauren recognize the importance of treating the whole person rather than focusing solely on a diagnosis.

Lauren earned her medical degree from Ohio University's Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency training at Authority Health in Detroit, Michigan. Her education and professional experiences reinforced her belief that effective healthcare requires an understanding of the connection between the mind, body, and spirit. Her background in science and research, combined with her appreciation for the human experience, continues to inform her thoughtful and individualized approach to care.

Lauren believes that compassion, honesty, and empathy are essential to building meaningful therapeutic relationships. She understands that seeking mental healthcare can be a deeply personal experience and strives to create a welcoming, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their concerns. Her approachable and relatable nature allows her to connect with individuals from different backgrounds and experiences, helping them feel heard, valued, and understood.

At the heart of Lauren's philosophy is the belief that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion. She recognizes that emotional well-being is influenced by many aspects of life, including personal experiences, relationships, physical health, and individual beliefs. By taking the time to understand each client's unique circumstances, she seeks to provide thoughtful, personalized care that acknowledges the whole person.

Lauren describes herself as honest, hardworking, empathetic, and relatable. She values authenticity in her interactions and believes that trust and mutual understanding are important foundations for meaningful progress. Her faith is also a significant source of purpose in her life, and she feels called to use her knowledge and abilities to help others. This sense of purpose continues to motivate her commitment to providing compassionate care and making a positive difference in the lives of those she serves.

When she isn't working, Lauren enjoys spending time in nature, being around animals, and participating in activities involving water. She also enjoys journaling, which provides an opportunity for reflection and personal expression. Her appreciation for the natural world, spirituality, and self-reflection complements her belief in the importance of nurturing emotional, physical, and personal well-being.
