Dr. Ericka Woods is a licensed psychologist in New York and Connecticut with Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) through the PSYPACT Commission. A Certified Grief Educator with advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dr. Woods is known for her honest, caring, kind, and centered approach to helping clients navigate life's challenges. She considers it both a privilege and a responsibility to use her knowledge and experience to help others find healing, resilience, and meaningful change.

Dr. Woods earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, followed by a Master of Arts in General Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to expanding her clinical expertise through ongoing education and specialized training. In addition to her psychodynamic foundation, she has received extensive training in evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). This breadth of training allows her to thoughtfully tailor treatment to each client's unique needs, goals, and experiences.

For Dr. Woods, psychology is more than a profession—it is her vocation. While many people search for work that aligns with their sense of purpose, she feels grateful that her life's work and calling have always been deeply connected. She believes that when someone is given the ability to help others, whether through natural gifts, education, or experience, they have a responsibility to use those abilities with integrity, compassion, and care. She also recognizes the importance of practicing self-care herself, believing that caring for others begins with maintaining one's own well-being.

Dr. Woods is continually inspired by the opportunity to support individuals facing both visible and invisible struggles. She understands that emotional pain can take many forms and believes every person has the capacity to find a path forward. Her role is to provide guidance, support, and evidence-based tools while helping clients discover their own strengths and resilience along the way. She is passionate about creating an environment where clients feel empowered to better understand themselves, overcome obstacles, and build more fulfilling lives.

Building trust and a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of Dr. Woods' approach. She believes that meaningful therapy begins with creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. By combining warmth, authenticity, and clinical expertise, she partners with clients to explore difficult experiences, foster insight, and develop practical strategies for lasting growth and healing. Her flexible, individualized approach allows her to meet clients wherever they are in their journey while drawing upon the therapeutic methods best suited to their goals.

Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Woods enjoys reading, taking long walks, traveling, attending shows and concerts, and spending time near the water, which she finds especially restorative. She values moments of peace and connection that help her stay grounded and present for those she serves. And while she may not advertise it often, she also enjoys singing—a personal passion she happily admits is still a bit of a secret.
