Dr. Johanna Riojas is a licensed clinical psychologist who brings warmth, empathy, and humor into every therapeutic interaction. She considers it a true privilege to walk alongside clients on their path toward healing and personal growth. With a client-centered and flexible approach, Dr. Riojas is committed to creating a safe, judgment-free space where individuals feel heard, seen, and unconditionally accepted.

Dr. Riojas holds a Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology and has spent her academic and professional life immersed in the study and practice of mental health. Her interest in psychology sparked in eighth grade while helping her uncle study for his intro course, and it only deepened from there. She pursued psychology throughout her college years—joining research groups, participating in campus mental health awareness efforts, and viewing clinical practice as both a responsibility and an honor.

Her therapeutic work is guided by a deep respect for each client’s unique journey. Dr. Riojas initially conceptualizes through a psychodynamic lens to better understand the context behind behaviors and thought patterns. However, she tailors her treatment style to suit the client’s needs in the moment, drawing from multiple therapeutic modalities to offer personalized, effective care.

As someone who has personally experienced the vulnerability of therapy, Dr. Riojas brings an added layer of understanding to her work. She doesn’t claim to have lived her clients' experiences—but she knows what it’s like to sit in the therapy chair, to open up, and to rebuild with the guidance of a skilled therapist. That insight drives her mission to make each client feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow in alignment with their own values.

Dr. Riojas’ diverse background—attending multiple schools growing up, moving across the country for graduate school, internship, and professional opportunities—has shaped her into someone who is resilient, adaptable, and deeply aware that challenges don’t stay behind when we change locations. She brings this insight into her work, helping clients navigate change and build internal stability.

Outside of the therapy room, Dr. Riojas enjoys the cozy and the communal: reading, playing games like Stardew Valley, cheering on the San Francisco 49ers, and spending quality time with her family. She shares a lively household with her siblings, two cats, and two dogs—all part of a life filled with love, chaos, and cherished traditions.
