Veronica Spanjol is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, encouraging, and individualized care. A thoughtful listener, Veronica strives to create a supportive environment where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and empowered to work toward becoming the best version of themselves.
Veronica grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, as the youngest of six siblings. She was raised by two hardworking, service-minded parents who practiced family medicine and was also influenced by mentors within her church community. Surrounded by examples of compassion, service, and caring for others, Veronica developed an early appreciation for the importance of helping people feel supported through life's challenges.
Veronica earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University's Louise Herrington School of Nursing. She later completed her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatry and Mental Health at Walden University.
Before specializing in mental health, Veronica worked as a telemetry nurse caring for people with cardiovascular conditions. In that setting, she witnessed firsthand how stress and emotional well-being could have a direct impact on physical health, including changes in heart rhythms. The experience deepened her interest in understanding what may be happening beneath the surface and inspired her to pursue a path where she could help people explore the underlying emotional and psychological factors affecting their overall well-being.
Veronica believes care should feel like a partnership. Her goal is to empower clients while walking alongside them throughout their journey, providing support, encouragement, and a space where they can be honest about their experiences. She finds it especially meaningful to help clients feel seen and supported as they identify their individual goals and make changes that allow them to live more fulfilling lives.
Her approach incorporates principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), with an emphasis on balancing acceptance with meaningful change. Veronica helps clients develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building practical skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, and effective interpersonal communication. She recognizes that each person's circumstances and goals are different and works collaboratively to help clients identify strategies that are meaningful and realistic for their lives.
Outside of work, Veronica enjoys traveling, hiking, yoga, reading, spending time in nature, and appreciating the beauty in life's simple moments. Family is also an important part of her life, and she enjoys spending time with her husband, young daughter, and two rescue dogs.
