Halley Azad is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, honest, and individualized care. Kind, empathetic, and approachable, Halley strives to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable discussing their experiences, asking questions, and actively participating in their care. She believes meaningful mental health support begins with trust, transparency, and a genuine partnership between the client and clinician.
Halley grew up in a small rural town in Indiana, where access to healthcare services and specialists was often limited. Witnessing these challenges firsthand gave her an early appreciation for the barriers individuals and families can face when seeking appropriate care, particularly in underserved communities. Healthcare was also an important part of her upbringing, as both her mother and sister pursued careers in the field. Their dedication to helping others helped shape Halley's own desire to make a positive difference in people's lives.
Halley earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Beckfield College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University. She continued her education at Indiana Wesleyan University, earning both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Business Administration. She later completed her postgraduate Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner training at Purdue University Global. Her educational background, combined with extensive clinical experience, has provided a strong foundation for understanding the relationship between physical health, emotional well-being, and access to quality healthcare.
Throughout her nursing career, Halley has gained experience caring for individuals across the lifespan, including children, adults, and older adults. Her extensive background in women's health has been particularly influential in shaping her passion for mental health care. While supporting women through various stages of life, she frequently encountered individuals experiencing mental health challenges during pregnancy and the postpartum period, as well as those navigating substance use concerns with limited access to appropriate resources.
These experiences highlighted the importance of accessible, compassionate mental health services and inspired Halley to pursue psychiatric mental health nursing. She became increasingly passionate about addressing gaps in care, advocating for underserved populations, and helping individuals and families find the support they need during vulnerable periods.
Halley's approach to care is collaborative, individualized, and grounded in open communication. She strongly values the role of therapy in supporting mental health and believes clients should have a clear understanding of their care and feel empowered to participate in decisions that affect their well-being. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, she works to understand each client's circumstances, concerns, preferences, and goals before developing a plan together.
Transparency and honesty are especially important to Halley. She encourages clients to ask questions, express concerns, and share feedback about their experiences. She wants individuals to feel comfortable speaking openly if something is unclear or if an approach does not feel right for them. Her goal is to build a trusting relationship where clients feel respected, informed, and supported throughout their mental health journey.
What continues to inspire Halley is witnessing the meaningful progress individuals can make when they receive appropriate support. She finds it especially rewarding to see clients regain hope, improve their daily functioning, and experience a greater sense of well-being. Her commitment to helping others is also strengthened by her desire to improve access to care and make the journey toward mental wellness easier for individuals and families.
Outside of work, Halley enjoys spending time with her four dogs, Dixie, Slinky, Coco, and Groot. She also loves traveling, reading, hiking, listening to music, crafting, and spending quality time with family and friends.
