Dr. Aminata Traore is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist who is passionate about forming meaningful connections and empowering clients on their journey toward personal growth and well-being. She grew up in Cote d’Ivoire before immigrating to the United States just before the age of eleven, and her life experiences have fueled her deep understanding of how identity, community, and environment impact mental health.

Dr. Traore holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Dartmouth College. Her interest in human development led her to conduct research on adolescent risk behaviors before pursuing her medical degree at the Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia. It was there that she discovered her calling in psychiatry - the only field of medicine where she felt she could truly spend time getting to know her patients as whole people: their interests, values, hopes, and dreams. She went on to complete her psychiatry residency training at Yale University.

Dr. Traore describes herself as curious, compassionate, and kind. Her clients often appreciate her thoughtful and relational approach, which focuses on building trust and offering insight in a safe, collaborative space. She is especially inspired by the human side of medicine and considers it a privilege to walk alongside her clients as they grow in self-awareness, develop healthier coping strategies, and create more fulfilling relationships.

Growing up in immigrant communities shaped Dr. Traore’s commitment to supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, and the stressors of transition, identity, and belonging. She is proud to work with clients from all walks of life and is particularly attuned to the emotional impact of cultural shifts and life changes.

Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Traore finds joy in life’s small pleasures. She loves taking her pup on adventures around Connecticut and considers herself a connoisseur of local bakeries. A self-proclaimed plant enthusiast, she’s always expanding her indoor jungle and has recently picked up watercolor painting as a creative outlet. In quieter moments, you’ll likely find her immersed in a novel or listening to one of the many podcasts on her ever-growing list.
