Lisa Roussin is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides warm, compassionate, and individualized care. With a practical and down-to-earth approach, Lisa strives to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care.
Lisa grew up in Missouri before moving with her family to Florida as a teenager. Mental health became personally meaningful to her at an early age as she witnessed the impact serious mental illness can have not only on an individual, but on an entire family. She also saw how challenging it could be for people to find compassionate, effective care. Later experiences witnessing the effects of trauma and suicide among military families, as well as the challenges families can face navigating care and support for neurodivergence, further strengthened her desire to pursue psychiatric nursing. These experiences shaped her commitment to helping people feel understood, receive individualized support, and avoid feeling lost within a complex healthcare system.
Lisa earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Northwest Florida State College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University before completing her Master of Science in Nursing as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Purdue University Global. In addition to being a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Lisa is a Board-Certified Health & Wellness Nurse Coach and a Board-Certified Holistic Nurse through the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation.
Lisa was drawn to mental health care because of the profound influence emotional well-being can have on every aspect of a person's life. She values the opportunity to truly get to know her clients, understand what may be contributing to their concerns, and help them identify practical ways to feel and function better. Rather than viewing someone as a diagnosis or checklist of symptoms, Lisa seeks to understand the person and the life surrounding those experiences.
Her approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and centered on the whole person. Lisa considers biological, psychological, social, and lifestyle factors that may influence mental health and incorporates education, shared decision-making, and practical wellness strategies into care. When appropriate, this can include exploring areas such as sleep, nutrition, movement, stress, and overall well-being. Her goal is to work alongside each client to develop realistic strategies that fit their individual circumstances, needs, and goals.
Lisa recognizes that seeking mental health support can feel vulnerable, particularly for people who have previously felt dismissed or misunderstood. She encourages clients to ask questions, express concerns, and participate fully in their care. What continues to inspire her is seeing people regain hope, improve their quality of life, and begin to feel like themselves again.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with family, traveling, listening to music, staying active, and continuing to learn about health and wellness. She especially enjoys being outdoors and activities that combine movement, relaxation, and time in nature.
