Crystal Hebert is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, supportive, and individualized care. Caring, approachable, and nonjudgmental, Crystal believes that meaningful mental health care begins with genuinely caring about people. She strives to create a welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences, discussing their challenges, and working toward goals that are important to them.
Crystal grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she has spent much of her life. Although deeply connected to her hometown, she also had opportunities to travel extensively while growing up, exposing her to different people, perspectives, and life experiences. From an early age, Crystal developed an awareness of the emotional challenges people face, particularly through witnessing individuals struggle with mental health concerns, substance use, and difficult family relationships.
Her interest in helping others was also shaped by her own family experiences. Growing up, Crystal often found herself helping navigate difficult conversations and disagreements within her family. These experiences strengthened her natural inclination to listen, understand different perspectives, and support people through challenging situations. Long before pursuing a professional career in mental health, she recognized the importance of having someone who genuinely cares and is willing to listen without judgment.
Crystal earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University and her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of South Alabama.
Throughout her nursing career, Crystal has cared for individuals across a wide range of ages and healthcare settings. Her experience includes labor and delivery nursing, home health, and caring for older adults. As a mother and an experienced nurse, she brings an appreciation for the different emotional, physical, and personal challenges that can arise throughout life. Working with individuals at various stages of life has reinforced her belief that every person deserves compassionate care tailored to their unique circumstances.
Crystal was drawn to mental health care by something simple yet deeply meaningful: her genuine concern for people. Having witnessed the effects of mental health challenges and substance use on individuals and families, she understands how important it can be to have someone who offers encouragement, understanding, and support without criticism or judgment.
Her approach is collaborative, practical, and centered on each client's individual motivations and goals. Crystal believes that understanding what matters most to a person is an important part of helping them make meaningful changes. Rather than imposing a particular path, she works to identify what motivates each client, understand the challenges they are facing, and support them in taking steps toward what they hope to accomplish.
Above all, Crystal wants clients to know that she is there to help, not to judge. She values creating genuine connections and believes people should feel respected and supported regardless of their circumstances or where they are in their mental health journey. What continues to inspire her is the opportunity to make a positive difference in people's lives through compassion, understanding, and meaningful support.
Outside of work, Crystal enjoys exploring a wide variety of interests and considers herself something of a hobby collector. Her activities have included jewelry making, painting, sports, fitness, yoga, teaching, and mentoring others. She particularly enjoys opportunities to learn new skills, stay active, and connect with people through shared experiences.
