Dr. Erin Shannon is a clinical psychologist who brings dedication, kindness, humor, and authenticity to her work. Deeply empathetic and caring, she uses a solution-oriented approach to help clients release burdens, overcome barriers, and move toward greater happiness, well-being, and personal fulfillment.
Dr. Shannon earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, summa cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University. She went on to earn both her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology, graduating summa cum laude from Pepperdine University. She completed her predoctoral internship with the Veterans Administration and a dual postdoctoral fellowship funded by the National Institute of Mental Health at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where she trained in the Departments of Psychiatry and Genetics.
Drawn to psychology by her natural desire to observe, learn, and help others, Dr. Shannon was raised to “run to the problem, not away from it.” That mindset continues to shape her work today. A dedicated problem-solver, she is motivated by the opportunity to help clients ease suffering, move beyond perceived limitations, and achieve levels of performance and happiness that may once have felt out of reach.
Dr. Shannon grew up around professional sports, which provided her with a unique combination of insight, opportunity, and training. These experiences gave her an early understanding of optimal performance, resilience, and the demands of functioning in high-pressure environments. They also strengthened her interest in helping people develop the skills and confidence needed to perform at their best while protecting their emotional well-being.
In her work with clients, Dr. Shannon combines empathy and compassion with humor, honesty, and practical guidance. Her solution-oriented approach focuses not only on relieving distress but also on identifying strengths, removing barriers, and creating meaningful, sustainable change. She integrates holistic healing practices with evidence-informed psychological approaches, tailoring treatment to each client’s needs and goals.
Her areas of focus and therapeutic techniques include energy psychology, hypnosis, Emotional Freedom Techniques commonly known as EFT tapping, trauma debriefing, and narrative restructuring. Through this integrative approach, she helps clients examine the stories and experiences shaping their lives, process difficult emotions, and develop healthier ways of moving forward.
Dr. Shannon remains inspired by the resilience and potential of the people she serves. She finds great meaning in helping clients release emotional burdens and move beyond simply coping toward a life characterized by greater confidence, fulfillment, happiness, and optimal performance.
Outside of work, Dr. Shannon’s favorite activities are reading and learning, whether for her professional development or simply to broaden her experience and understanding of the world. She also loves beaches, traveling, and spending meaningful time with her family.
