Dr. Melissa Mielke-Metzger, PsyD is a clinical psychologist who brings a creative, thoughtful, and compassionate approach to her work. With a naturally artistic and inquisitive mindset, she is dedicated to helping clients better understand themselves, navigate life’s challenges, and move toward meaningful, lasting growth.
Dr. Mielke-Metzger earned her Bachelor of Science with a double major in Psychology and Human Development from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. She went on to complete an Education Specialist degree in School Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, followed by her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from Adler School of Professional Psychology. Her academic journey reflects a deep commitment to understanding human behavior across developmental stages and environments.
Her path into psychology began during her undergraduate years while working as an in-home behavior therapist supporting children and adolescents diagnosed with autism. Originally starting college on a pre-veterinary track, she discovered a strong connection to the social sciences, which ultimately led her to pursue a career in psychology. Encouraged by mentors and inspired by evolving practices within the field, she continued her education to broaden her clinical scope and deepen her impact.
Dr. Mielke-Metzger has trained and worked across a wide range of settings, including outpatient clinics, non-profit organizations, therapeutic and alternative schools, community health programs, and healthcare environments. With a generalist background, she has experience supporting individuals across various age groups and presenting concerns, allowing her to adapt her approach to meet each client’s unique needs. She is committed to meeting clients where they are, offering a supportive and collaborative space for growth. Dr. Mielke-Metzger values the ongoing learning that comes from working with clients, colleagues, and mentors, and she continues to evolve her interests and skills within the field. She believes that therapy is most effective when grounded in trust, authenticity, and mutual respect, and she strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences.
Her personal story has also shaped her perspective. Raised in the Midwest, she was influenced by her grandmother, who pursued higher education as a non-traditional student while raising four children. This example instilled in her a deep appreciation for resilience, lifelong learning, and the importance of forging one’s own path.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Mielke-Metzger enjoys thrifting, exploring true-crime stories, spending time with animals, and connecting with family and friends. These interests help her stay grounded, inspired, and connected to the world around her.
