Doctor of Medicine
Dr. Pauravi Rana is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist who provides thoughtful, individualized, and evidence-based care. An optimist by nature, Dr. Rana brings a warm and reassuring presence to her work and strives to help clients feel at ease as they discuss their experiences, concerns, and goals.
Born in India and raised in the United States from a young age, Dr. Rana developed a natural interest in the ways culture, background, and life experiences can influence mental health and shape perspectives on mental illness. This cross-cultural perspective contributes to her appreciation for each person's individual story and the importance of approaching care with curiosity, respect, and an open mind.
Dr. Rana earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch. She completed her Psychiatry Residency at Baylor College of Medicine, where she also pursued advanced fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Her extensive training has provided a strong foundation for understanding mental health across different stages of life.
Dr. Rana was drawn to psychiatry because it brings together two equally important aspects of medicine: clinical expertise and meaningful human connection. She believes that careful evaluation and thoughtful diagnosis are essential, but that active listening and the development of a strong therapeutic alliance are equally important to effective psychiatric care.
Her approach is customized to the individual and grounded in evidence-based practice. Psychoeducation plays an important role in her work, as Dr. Rana believes helping clients better understand their experiences can allow them to participate more meaningfully in their care. She strives to bring an authentic presence to each interaction and to create a relationship built on communication, trust, and mutual respect.
Dr. Rana considers confidentiality and ethics foundational to her work. She adheres to established standards of care while recognizing that each client brings a unique combination of experiences, circumstances, perspectives, and needs. Her goal is to provide thoughtful care that respects the individual while remaining grounded in sound clinical practice.
What continues to inspire Dr. Rana is the richness of each person's story and the capacity people demonstrate for growth. She considers it humbling to be trusted with those stories and values the opportunity to support clients as they develop greater understanding of themselves and work toward meaningful change.
Outside of work, Dr. Rana enjoys music, traveling, gardening, and civic engagement.
