Carly Oakley is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, respectful, and individualized care. With more than two decades of healthcare experience, Carly believes in seeing each client as a person first—not a diagnosis—and creating a safe, supportive environment where they feel heard, valued, and comfortable being themselves.
Carly was born in the Philippines and raised in Arizona. Her upbringing gave her an early understanding of how culture and family can shape the way people experience and express emotions. Growing up, she saw how vulnerability and openly discussing difficult feelings could sometimes be discouraged in favor of remaining strong and keeping struggles private. These experiences helped Carly recognize that people learn different ways of coping and that unspoken emotional challenges can affect individuals, relationships, families, and even future generations.
Carly's path in healthcare began as a caregiver and progressed through multiple levels of nursing, including CNA, LVN, RN, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, completed Family Nurse Practitioner training through Georgia Southwestern State University and Charles R. Drew University, and earned her Master of Science in Nursing with specialized training as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from National University.
Throughout her career, Carly has gained experience across psychiatry, acute and critical care, emergency care, oncology, surgery, family practice, home health, and telehealth. She has also provided trauma-informed care to vulnerable populations, including individuals affected by abuse, trafficking, domestic violence, homelessness, and complex trauma. These experiences have reinforced her belief that physical, emotional, and mental well-being are deeply connected.
Carly's passion for mental health was also shaped by personal experience. After someone close to her family struggled with schizophrenia and died without receiving the support they had hoped he would receive, she developed an even greater appreciation for recognizing mental health concerns and helping people feel comfortable seeking care. For Carly, mental health deserves the same attention, compassion, and respect as physical health.
Her treatment approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and individualized. Carly takes time to understand each client's experiences, concerns, strengths, and goals while considering the relationship between physical and mental health. She encourages questions and wants clients to have an active voice in their care. Her goal is not simply to address symptoms, but to help people better understand themselves, build confidence, and feel supported as they work toward a healthier and more balanced life.
At the heart of Carly's philosophy is a simple belief: your voice matters. She wants clients to know they deserve to be heard and treated with compassion, dignity, and without judgment. She values developing trusting relationships and working alongside clients rather than simply telling them what to do.
Outside of work, Carly enjoys working out, hiking, painting, attending church, cooking healthy and delicious meals, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys self-care, traveling internationally, and experiencing different cultures and cuisines.
